I was sharing a rented cottage in a quiet country lane with my friend Dominic. We had been given a months notice to vacate after a small winter solstice party. The two hippyish vans had alarmed the neighbours who had alerted the landlord and I should have been packing when I wrote this song.

Like an Old Forty Five

Here I go again I'm on the move
Don't seem that long since I arrived
Just don't seem to stay in the groove
Like an old 45 on a record machine
An old 45 that you don't keep clean

Packin' the stuff that I unpacked
Movin' the stuff I didn't
Stuff I wonder if I'll need
But souvenirs I can't get rid of
From a time when I knew love

Here I go again I'm on the move
Don't seem that long since I arrived
Just don't seem to stay in the groove
Like an old 45 on a record machine
An old 45 that you don't keep clean

I've got this sense of déjà vu
Don't seem that long since I left you
But this is the sixth time shifting stuff
And I'll survive you know I'm tough
But surely five woulda been enough yeah

Break

Like an old 45 on a record machine
An old 45 that you don't keep clean

I'll find that love again someday
Yeah I know I'll find that love somewhere
Settle down someplace and then
I can lead me a natural life
Free from trouble free from strife

Here I go again I'm on the move
Don't seem that long since I arrived
Just don't seem to stay in the groove
Like an old 45 on a record machine
record machine
record machine
record machine
record machine
record machine
record machine
