Before I left for Sligo, I had to produce my driving documents at my local Garda station. My turn was next when my phone warbled. It was my daughter "Hey Dad, you know the song where the angels take away the girl – I think it's by Jim Croche"
"Is it HONEY by Bobby Goldsboro?"
"What's it go like?"
The rest is history and slightly exaggerated.

Jody Jody

I've got a girl her name is Jody
She's about as skinny as a stick of macaroni
And she's as sweet as apple pie
Yeah she's the apple of her daddy's eye
But she don't live where I wanna be
And I won't go into the history
But I recall when I left home
She said daddy get you a mobile phone

So Jody, Jody apple of my eye
Yeah Jody, Jody we'll get together by and by
And I'll keep my mobile phone turned on
So that Jody when I'm gone
You can talk to me anywhere you like
Talk to me on my motorbike yeah
Call me if you're feeling blue
And I'll sing honey I miss you yeah

Now the only thing with a mobile phone
Is you never know where your voice is goin'
And instead of saying how d'ya do
Calls usually start with where are you
I mean your lawyer calls and you're on the john
Haven't got your britches on
And it kinda takes some getting used to
But Jody baby just for you

I'll keep my mobile phone turned on
So that Jody when I'm gone
You can talk to me anywhere you like
Talk to me on my motorbike yeah

Now some people talk of microwaves
But they can't be can't any worse than raves
And I don't do drugs and I'm dry again
So whatdo I care about Jellybrain

So Jody, Jody apple of my eye
Yeah Jody, Jody we'll get together by and by
And I'll keep my mobile phone turned on
So that Jody when I'm gone
You can call me if you're feeling blue
And I'll sing honey I miss you yeah

Now I got to tell you 'bout the other day
At the police station in Galway bay
I was there to get some papers signed
Otherwise I might get fined
And my phone goes off it's my darling Jo
And she wants to know how's the Honey Song go

And I sing;
And honey I miss you
And I'm feeling good
And I'd love to be with you
If only I could

Well alarms went off like Nine Nine Nine
Cause I never saw the no singing sign
And six days I get in the slammer
With no mobile phone and no pyjamas

So Jody Jody, Jody Jody, Jody Jody
Honey I miss you

Now the lesson I learned from this fall from grace
Was to settle down and find a base
Take my time stop running round
And get a phone that's on the ground

So Jody, Jody apple of my eye
Yeah Jody, Jody we'll get together by and by
And I'll keep my mobile phone turned on
So that Jody when I'm gone
You can talk to me anywhere you like
Talk to me on my motorbike yeah
Call me if you're feeling blue
And I'll sing honey I miss you yeah
