A Minor Case of the Cordon Blues
Working as an extra down at T na G
Standing in the background hard to see
An easy way to pass the time and get some money too
Took a break for lunch, reminded me of you
The vegetarian choice was a filo pastry pie
With cream cheese and spinach, my oh my
It looked just like the one that you used to make
I thought just for a minute that I'd made a big mistake
But there's no way I wanna be back
Today was just a mild attack
And I'm not about to blow a fuse
I'ts just a minor case of the cordon blues
Y'see standing in a crowd scene down at Ros na Run
Is about as close to acting as I'd like to be doin'
Sitting in a phoney bar, drinking not so phoney stout
Thinking 'bout how long it took for me to figure out
While my gastronomic needs were being taken care of well
Living too much compromise can be a living hell
And there's no way I wanna be back
Today was just a mild attack
And I'm not about to blow a fuse
I'ts just a minor case of the cordon blues
Go to collect my day's pay, cash in hand
Could blow it all on Guinness and a one night stand
Could get a meal or two at a fancy restaurant
But I'm gonna buy a cookbook and see if I can't
Cook me up a storm, invite some friends to come
And after Tire-Misu, not to easy on the rum
Later play some music maybe sittin' round the fire
And thoughts of missing you 'll only hit when I retire
to my lonely bed in the wee small hours
so maybe I'll think again and send a bunch o' flowers
But there's no way you want me back
And I hope today was just a mild attack
And I'm not about to blow a fuse
And it's just a minor case of the cordon blues
