We don't smile much now, smiles lost somehow on the road from
There to here
The road got twisty, unclear and misty we watched those smiles
Just disappear

We had long ago
Seem more important than us talkin' now. How this happens
I don't know
Ain't got much new talk. Cold fries and cold pork don't amount to
A heap o' beans
Silences longer, the unsaid stronger, occasional replays
Of old movie scenes

Photographs and anecdotes ain't livin' a life how
It should be

You can share your history long after the mystery, long after the mystery
Walks out the door
